91 at bats with runners on, has only struck out twice, with 12 walks, hitting .253, but then again, Thome is only hitting .243 with runners on.

Overall he has 35 walks and 12 strikeouts. He's scored 46 runs already...on pace for around 120 runs.

Not too shabby. If only he could steal some bases.

He can...as so indicated by his previous years...but seems to be having problems this year in that department. This whole team is struggeling with runners in scoring position except for Omar. Even Burks is now. Considering our TEAM average is at the Mendoza line, it Lawton's stats are not that horrible.

Matt is one of my favorite Indians, and I don't understand the criticisms I read of him on other boards. His average is about 30 points below his career average, and his OBP about 20 points lower. Not bad considering he has been playing all year with a separated shoulder. Plus he supposedly has that intangible "character".
I hear rumors that the Yankees want him, even more so now that their rookie Rivera has gone down with a fractured kneecap. I would hate to see Matt go, and the Yanks have nothing that I see that I want. Maybe next year if Escobar surprises.

Maybe it's our good fortune that Rivera got hurt. I wouldn't trade Lawton there without getting Rivera. Maybe Lawton will be healthier in the 2nd half, and start playing like he did before the injury. I just wish he didn't make 7 mil. That's more than half of what Thome's salary will be next year.

The same post went up twice, and I can't delete it, so I'll add to the last one.

When Justice was traded, The Tribe got its pick of a group of pitchers, and were given time after the trade to decide. Maybe they can do that now- take Almonte, and get to pick from Rivera and Claussen later when Rivera is playing again. In exchange for the Tribe taking that risk, the Yanks should have to take Ricky G.
